The lodge is a bit of a star in my view. Lots of eco sincerity. It does all the basics extremely well - nice well appointed rooms with great jungle views, a very good restaurant although slightly pricey (but with some standout dishes). I was also impressed by the helpful staff especially on front desk and the can do attitude which wasn’t obviously “tip dependent”. The pool is small but really liked it and it fitted into the design really well. We met some lovely people from the US and shared dinner with them whilst our kids played in the reception area. Pish to those that believe children should be confined to their room after 8.00pm! The only small feedback is that whilst friendly and attentive orders particularly by the pool are a bit slow. Not a big deal. Keep doing what you’re doing.

This piece of tranquil paradise was just what we needed to unplug and connect as a family. The lodge is clean and the staff were all friendly and helpful. This truly is a special place! We booked tours through the resort which was very easy to do though we may have paid more going this route. Undoubtedly the best guide took us through the Monteverde Cloud Forest. If you have a chance to take the guided tour, ask for Jairo Rodriguez! He’s incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the area. Our kids (ages 11 and 14) were so engaged in the tour and we all learned so much! The kids even thanked me multiple times for booking the tour because they enjoyed it so much. It was the perfect morning! The staff at the lodge are all so kind and personable that they added to an overall very special experience. Rooms are kept clean with service during the day plus a bonus turndown service in the late afternoon. We really appreciated this extra touch as we typically returned wet and/or dirty from our various adventures and appreciated our room was clean.

We loved our stay at Monteverde Lodge and Gardens! My daughter and I were celebrating her college graduation and we absolutely loved it! We came for relaxation, the birds , being surrounded by nature and the peaceful atmosphere! It exceeded our expectations with the amazing breakfast, French press coffee every morning, the kind staff and our simple but luxurious room. We enjoyed the salt water pool in the evenings after our hikes/tours. We will certainly be hoping to come back in the future!

We stayed at Monteverde Lodge & Gardens three nights during our trip in Costa Rica. We enjoyed the friendly & welcoming staff, the cosy room and beautiful gardens as well as the top notch restaurant. From all the places we have visited throughout the trip, they were most serious about sustainability. Highlights - All the wildlife in the gardens - Convenient location for all activities in Monteverde area - Superb restaurant ran by female chefs - No distractions (like no useless TV in the room Lowlights - Really none

Although the lodge seemed to have been recently updated, there were many issues that still needed addressing. There were buckets and towels throughout the facilities (in the lobby, the vivarium and in our room - they had to offer us a different one) due to the roof leaking. The room we had was quite small with not a lot of place for luggage and nowhere in the bathroom to hang our clothes to dry. As for the grounds, the gardens were beautiful but the main trail was closed. The food was good and we appreciated that breakfast was included but music was annoying. Was disappointed at times with the service and lack of attention to detail. For example, before our arrival we were asked to provide information about ourselves, including food allergies. Upon our arrival, we were offered a mix of fruit juices, which contained one of the fruit we had explicitly stated one of us had an allergy to. The hotel was nice but really overpriced, we were also charged about 20 USD more per night than I was quoted when I called. We paid slightly less for our previous hotel and it had much better amenities and service. Would not stay here again.

WONDERFUL! Everything about Monteverde Lodge and Gardens is simply amazing. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The restaurant is a "do not miss!" Kevin was our server and called us by name each meal. The food was fresh and fire made dining special on a chilly, wet evening. The rooms are very well done and overlook a natural forest where we saw monkeys right off our deck! The lodge arranged all of our travel and made our visit easy to navigate. I would stay here longer if our schedule permitted!

We stayed here three nights in an upstairs double room. The room was spacious and comfortable, nicely decorated and with a wonderful balcony. The lodge is beautiful, has a wonderful terrace, and is surrounded by nature. Lots of opportunities to watch wildlife while having breakfast or while walking around the property. We opted for tours organized through the lodge and were truly excellent. The food was excellent (just like at other Boena lodges), and so were drinks. Staff was nice and welcoming. I highly recommend it. The only minor issue was the bed, which was a bit too soft for us.

We had a fantastic stay at Monteverde lodge and gardens. The hotel is set in a perfect position overlooking the cloud forest. All of the facilities are really well thought out. We stayed during rainy season and the weather was very mixed. We managed to enjoy the pool but also had use of the hotel's ponchos which are provided for all guests. The restaurant is stunning and has a lovely outlook with doors that can be opened when the weather is good enough and an open fire when it isn't. The food was perfection. All of the staff were super friendly. We would recommend this hotel to anyone for a really high class but relaxed vibe.

Let’s start with the positives. Rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable and the breakfast is rather good. Now, one comes to expect more than the basic from what’s supposed to be the best place in Monteverde. Service is poor to very poor. No one offers to help with your luggages, everything takes forever, impossible to get food past 8.45pm. The pool is a poodle. Rooms have zero view. I mean zero. Maybe more annoying still, the place is very noisy. Walls are thin, rooms are all close to the lobby and you will benefit from all the action taking place there, well behaved kids enjoying an early breakfast, neighbours leaving early for a treck … To top it all, the Monteverde Lodge will charge you $5 for a missing plastic room key… a very tasty attention
